Hiroo Hibara, Director
Certified Public Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist, Mental Health Social Worker

Mr. Hibara has more than 30 years of experience in treating people with addiction such as alcohol, drug, gambling and eating disorders. After graduating from Taisho University Counseling Institute, he joined Shinano Hospital, a newly established hospital specialised in alcohol dependence. In addition to providing individual and family therapies, he developed and facilicated psychoeducation, psychodrama, and other group sessions for people with alcohol dependence. He also collaborated with local self-help groups to ensure seamless support in the community. In recent years, he has also begun to provide support and counseling services to perpetrators of sexual crimes and domestic violence. He is also an expert in providing EMDR therapy, an effective trauma treatment.

Miki Takahashi
Licenced Marriage and Family Therapist (No. LMFT47713 in CA, USA) *registered by maiden name

After completing graduate program at California State University, Fullerton (M.A. in Counseling), she worked at Homeward Bound of Marin to support the social integration of homeless people with addiction and/or mental health issues as well as criminal histories. Later, she worked as an Early Childhood Mental Health (ECMH) consultant and a Married and Family therapist at the Family Service Agency of San Francisco, a non-profit organization that supports children, the elderly, and homeless people with mental health issues including addiction. Currently she works at J. F. Oberlin University as a counselor to support students and their family in English and Japanese as well.

Takeshi Miwa
Certified Public Psychologist, Mental Health Social Worker

After graduating from the University of Sheffield, UK (Master of Public Heath / MPH), he worked as an international development consultant in various developing countries before working as a clinical social worker at a psychiatric hospital in Tokyo. While providing psychogical and social support to people with substance dependence and their family members, he also developed and facilitated psychoeducation programmes, addiction rehabilitation programmes, and social skills training programmes. At Counseling Room Seqoia, he mainly conducts psychological testing, EAP (Employee Assistance Program) counseling, and counseling for foreigners.
